Learning the lessons from the system response to the Grenfell Tower fire
NHS NW London is committed to learning lessons from the system response to the Grenfell fire and we note the King’s Fund report. We recognise that the residents of North Kensington have been traumatised by the tragedy and we are committed to a community-led recovery.
Since the fire, we have continued to engage with survivors and bereaved groups and the wider community. One of our predecessor bodies, West London CCG, worked with over 1,200 residents, survivors and bereaved to jointly produce the Health and Well Being strategy for those impacted. The strategy and the services that are provided were shaped through this involvement and the feedback from the emergency response in the aftermath of the fire. We have been open and transparent and have published a breakdown of how resources have been allocated to meet health needs.
Further information on our work and how communities, survivors and bereaved have helped us shape our approach to local health services and how they have changed over time, including cultural competence can be found here. It is clear that we still have a great deal of work and listening to do, and we want to work with survivors, bereaved and the wider community as we assess the evidence on future population health needs and how health services can meet those needs.
We are privileged to be in service to this extraordinary local community and to work alongside and support the community through some unbelievably difficult times.
